New UCI Race Classifications

Jr and Elite riders need to be aware of the new race classifications for the UCI races. See the rule book revisions at www.uci.ch. Basically the classes are as follows, this is important to know when planning schedules and races to go to.
  • National Championships class 6 - eg: Abby May 24, for 2010 / Airdrie August 28, for 2011 UCI calendar years.
  • Continental Series (|International race) class 5 - eg Red Deer July 10 & Guthrie, OK Jan24th.
  • International Classic Class 4 - eg Guthrie, OK Jan23
  • Continental Championship Race Class 3 - eg: North American Championships July 3, Salt Lake City.
  • Supercross Series Class 2 - eg: Madrid Spain March 26 / 27, 2010.
  • Supercross Time Trials Class 2TT - supercross race time trials are now worth points.
  • World Championships Class 1 - eg South Africa July 29 - Aug 1, 2010
  • Olympics - Class 0.
No challenge class awards for national rankings will be handed out in Abby may 2010. Nation points will be awarded/collected from the reults for the top three riders in a nation.

The nations ranking will be calculated throughout the periods:
- Points for UCI BMX world championships (class 1) and UCI BMX supercross
world cup (class 2) will count for the period of three (ranking calendar)
years (total qualification period from 01.08.2009 to 31.05.2012);
- Points for other ranking events will count for a period of two years (during
the qualification period from 01.08.2010 to 31.05.2012).

Facility Search

AICC is currently taking on a two pronged approach to our mission. First we are raising funds for a temporary facility to last us the 2010 winter season, or perhaps only the AB Cup race if we cannot land a facility within our monetary constraints.

Secondly we are raising long term funds to build our permanent structure. Currently the design is in flux and is dependent on the input that we receive from our Survey, but the present incarnation of the facility will be an air supported structure of 434ftx216ft. It will enclose a full UCI standard BMX track, training areas for road and track riders, full free weight room, dressing/multi-purpose rooms and a single indoor rectangular sport field that can be used for soccer, flag football, extreme frisbee, lacrosse, etc..

Bug Fix

We have completed some bug fixes with the Membership/Survey online form. For those of you who completed it (but it did not behave properly or if you were completely blocked out) we encourage you to please fill it out again. Dont' worry we will sort out the duplicates.

Thanks
